Sunday night traffic variable, but if you can figure the corner cutting route through Leeds takes a fair few miles off the A1M, M62 route.

3 hours! I did it in 2 hours once in a Daewoo Matiz.

Not sure which I should be least proud of.

2 hours in a Matiz?

Was it on the back of a flatbead?   ;D

Nope geniune - North Shields to Stretford to be precise.  170 miles - I considering the top speed of said Matiz is 82 mph I'm not sure how I managed it.  But I did.  It was a Saturday morning and I fancied visiting my family on the off-chance.  I once got it to do 100mph on a very downhill very windy road.  Ahh the ignorance of youth.  And the stupidity.

I took a little longer going back, those little 700cc engines weren't made for such punishment.

I now drive a diesel vectra and will only exceed 60mph if my life depends on it.

Why don't you get the coach Hugh, since you've passed your driving test all you have done is ruin the environment.  ;)

Thanks for that.

NB coach is rarely a possibility these days becauser of work. I remember the time at Southport, waiting ages for someone to find their way back to rthe coach. And then there's match delays. No, starting work at 8pm I don't think it's a possibility, and even in a car, only just.
