Used to ring the daily mirror (published in manchester in those days) at about 10pm. They usually came through for me  ;)

I lived in Newcastle in 84-85 and unable to recieve scores from Boston, called Directory enquiries for the Trophy SF score. They gave me the number and I called the bastards just as Boston scored, so was received by an over excited Lincolnshire idiot screaming down the phone at me that Boston were going to Wembley. Arse.

1-0: thank goodness for that!

Considering they sponsor the cup, you'd have thought Setanta would have the scores on their website!
