Oh Crumbes Harrogate!

"After very careful consideration and liaising closely with the Stadium Manager and Groundsman at the Keepmoat the appointed referee took the decision to call off our match against Workington at The Keepmoat tomorrow Tuesday 22 January. The pitch is in excellent condition but the volume of snow that is on the covers and the parameter makes it impossible to shift in time for the match. There is an added complication in that after clearing snow off the covers on Friday and Saturday last week there is no where to clear the snow to. Doncaster Rovers had over 40 volunteers clearing snow last week in preparation of their match against Orient

The Stadium manager also reports that the access ways to the stadium and the car parks are snow bound presenting further complications. If any more pressure was needed there is more snow forecast overnight in Doncaster and plummeting temperatures

This is obviously very disappointing to everyone concerned with the club. However, it shows that we are all at the mercy of the weather. Details of a re-arranged date for this fixture will be issued tomorrow once we have a reply from Workington to a suggested date"

Inspection at Moss Lane at 9.30 in the morning. At the moment there isn't any sign of freezing in Sale, so just maybe........

What we need is to get the snow off the pitch in the morning if the ref gives it the nod, and close the Chequers end if needs be, it wont be needed, they really wont want to be travelling tomorrow. Most of the other games will be off,  we really need to get one of the games in hand played tomorrow, as we dont know how bad the coming weeks might be.

Is there a lot of snow in Alty at the moment and on the pitch specifically?

Enough on the pitch to keep the frost at bay (not that its actually freezing at this moment in time) but not enough to cause a problem removing it. It shouldnt get much colder between now and sun rise

If this game does get "called on" then we all need to tell everyone we know that its on.

There will be Alty fans presuming its off who might get a shock when they see it's been played.

Well its not frozen overnight, so lets hope the ref at 09:30 gives us the go ahead to clear the bits of standing snow and get the game on

The weather forecast is also favourable

Worst case scenario - Boston tomorrow is frozen off, any thaw arrives too late for Guiseley on Saturday, Halifax call off their Trophy match on Friday to save Dartford travelling so next Tuesday goes west as well. See you Feb 2nd v Gloucester at Moss Lane - if I can remember how to get there ...

This is a very real danger, I fear. I wonder if we would be able to re-arrange the Boston game, say, for Jan 29th at short notice if Halifax do indeed have to play a cup game that night?
