Midfielder called Wilson......Richard? Robert?

Spot on.

Robert Wilson - ex-Fulham & Millwall.

Signed from Farnborough Town by Gerry Quinn in December 1992.

One to go....

Ballers,

Hugely impressed by your responses to date.
You've been spending far too much time talking to Brian Flynn!

Jerome John did NOT play a competitive first XI match for Millwall, as far as I can tell.

So, the identified characters so far are:

Alex Stepney;
Jason Beckford;
Jason Van Blerk.

Two more to go.

Clue: have a look at Alty in the seasons 1992/93 and 1995/96.

Incidentally, the answers can be found inside today's issue of the Robins Review.

Altrincham FC First Team / FA Cup Special Trivia Question......
« on: November 10, 2007, 12:25:15 AM »
Name FIVE individuals who have played a competitive first team match for both Alty and Millwall during their respective footballing careers (since 1963).

One is easy.

The other four are more obscure.

First prize for identifying all five players: a 2007 Tesco Christmas catalogue.

Oh, and Brian Flynn has already been provided with the answers, so he's excluded!

I am officially the worlds worst artist, it would have been a stick man if it was mine.

Although that may have been better.

Does anyone remember (apart from Pete Hughes) the Vic Robin cartoon that was in the programme in the 90's?  Oddest thing ever that was

Now that you mention it, I do recall those cartoons.

Not sure who supplied them (cue: another excuse to dig out a load of dusty old programmes and annoy my wife....).

Am I alone in detesting the blue monstrosity that currently masquerades as our away kit?

I think to be fair there was a competition for schoolkids to design it, it just looked so tinpot it was beyond credibility. I used to cringe.

Some 30 year old is probably sitting at home reading this wondering why no one said!

In that case, I suspect that it was Ecky himself who drew it....

Misty memories.......a year or so before it started to go tits up for the first time. Peter Densmore would get a game tomorrow.

The kit, not the worst usa, do you remember the red and black checks? The programme cover that season was even worse!

Was it a player jumping for a header in a red and black kit?

Ecky,

Yes, that's the one.

A sketch of an unidentified Alty player leaping like a salmon between two awestruck opponents.

Did anyone ever own up to having drawn the illustration?

Ah, the programme cover from 1988/89......truly abysmal!

I think that the wide white band was adopted in order to carry the name of the club's first ever shirt sponsors: Quicks For Ford!

Altrincham FC First Team / I have to diasgree with Colin Little here.....
« on: November 09, 2007, 06:18:16 PM »
Quote from Colin Little in tonight's issue of the Manchester Evening News:

"A lot of our supporters would swap 10 defeats in the league for a single Cup victory and I don't think that's the case at too many clubs."

I'm sorry, but that's nonsense.
I would take avoiding relegation from the BS Premier over a win against the likes of Millwall any day.

Besides, once you sink back into the BS North, just think about how many FA Cup qualifying rounds there are to negotiate to get to the First Round!

Here's the full interview:

Phil Oakey is the referee and those two prancing bints will run the line.

Altrincham FC First Team / Warren Peyton on Granada Reports
« on: November 08, 2007, 11:49:21 PM »
Did anyone else catch this item circa 6.20pm on Thursday?

For those who missed it, there was plenty of footage of him bricklaying and a glimpse at the Golf Road's sparkling new turnstile building.

Oh, and the reporter insisted on a barrage of Richard Whiteleyesque construction puns e.g. "How's the spirit level in the team?" and "You must be bricking it at the thought of playing Millwall?"

In short, marvellous investigative journalism.

I wonder to myself.

Burn down the Golf Road.

Hang the blessed DJ!

This week's issue of the Messenger has already been placed in the cat's litter tray and he will treat it with the contempt it deserves in due course.

They should stick to the only thing they know how to do: run pages and pages of adverts by estate agents.
