Personally, I never liked Pwllheli....

Millwall fans will bid a lot more if you can get Terry Hurlock to sign it.

Simply putting an 'X' on it should do the trick then...

Mr Gazelle,

Dave Ryan, a thoroughly decent guy despite his footballing 'pedigree???' is employed as a coach at Manchester United and manages Curzon Ashton Ladies.

I have met up with him on numerous occasions with his Curzon hat on and he is always polite and, as I say, thoroughly decent. I am led to believe that he harboured ambitions to play for Alty once

Dave Ryan DID play for Alty on one occasion in a pre-season friendly during the 1980s.

I'd need to delve into my archives to pinpoint the exact date....but it did happen!

Well, I'm holding fire just in case an Alty shirt autographed by that popular Robins diehard Statto appears on eBay soon.....

i often wonder if the macc/vics thing is age related
to me macc dont rate very highly, maybe because when i started they were a nothing club
whereas northwich was a big game
anyone?

I suspect that the pivotal point regarding whether Macc or Vics are our main rivals was the creation of the Alliance Premier League for the 1979/80 season.

During the 1960s and for most of the 1970s, Alty v Macc was always 'the big one'.

As Macc declined during the mid to late 1970s, so the rivalry faded a little.

Macc were not good enough to qualify for the APL in 1979 and it wasn't until 1987 that they gained promotion to the GM Vauxhall Conference and played us in a league fixture again.

During those early years of the Alliance Premier League, Vics effectively emerged as our main local rivals in the absence of the Milkmen.

« on: November 11, 2007, 11:56:44 PM »
Do I recall correctly that Statto didn't exactly endear himself to Graham Heathcote with some of his ill-informed comments about which managers were likely to get sacked in the Blue Square Premier handbook that was given out free at the first home game at Moss Lane this season?!

5935
Any plans to show this forthcoming game on the widescreen TV at Moss Lane?

....during the £500 Hit The Crossbar challenge.

I have to say hats off to him for actually managing to hit the crossbar by kicking the ball from the halfway line, even if his shot was wind-assisted and towards the undesignated end!

Couldn't we have given him one of those souvenir T-shirts as a consolation prize?!

What was "brilliant" about it?

We only managed two shots on target all afternoon against surprisingly poor opposition.

Tinson was immense and deserved the Man Of The Match award.....but we simply have too many substandard players.

Sedgemore might as well have paid £16.00 and sat in the stand with the rest of us.

The likes of King, Johnson, Cuddy etc would not have been proud of that showing.

Will you ever be happy with an Alty result?

We played well, were in the game till the last minuet and did the club and town proud.

I like many on here enjoyed the day and can tell people the result with pride.

Well, I'm glad that you enjoyed your day....but perhaps I just have higher standards!

It's probably the result of being privileged enough to watch Alty demolish Football League opposition on a regular basis over the years (I know, we were spoiled back then).

As commented elsewhere, I thought that Tinson was superb.
If only some of the others had matched his application and heart.

Lawton and O'Neill battled away but they are just simply not good enough technically.

Sedgemore was a huge disappointment, as, alas, was Little.

first of all, lets just say millwall were probably the poorest football league team we have played in the fa cup during the 40yrs i have supported the club.

however , i thought that was at best a very average performance by altrincham, and for a game as high profile as it was, simply not good enough.Too few players were able to raise their game and i question the committment and contribution of both sedgemore and little.

logan on the bench said it all. it was certainly not a performance to be proud of and changes are required quickly

dino,

I have to agree with you on this one.

Two critical games on the horizon now against Weymouth and Farsley.
