....as it did in those moments after Carlos Logan's suicidal backpass had gifted Histon their winning goal yesterday afternoon.

Horrendous.

An object lesson in how to throw away a game that we should have gone on to win once we equalised.

However, Logan should not shoulder all the blame.
Colin Little has missed three great chances to score and where were our central defenders for their first goal (which, admittedly, arose from a blatant offside that wasn't given)?
Akurang even had time to stumble in the box, get to his feet and then nod in a free header.

I've a horrible feeling that result will come back to haunt us next April.

Histon, a part-time team in their first year at this level, are now 20 points ahead of us.
How can that be?

Eight home defeats in 11 games at Moss Lane is shameful and clearly relegation form.

Roll on January, when Mister Heathcote will have to work some urgent magic in the recruitment of some new players.
I hope that the Board will back him.

Histon have the second best away defensive record in the league, having only conceded 9 goals in 10 away games to date, so I'll settle for a 1-0 victory courtesy of a wind-assisted punt from Coburn.

After careful reflection, I voted for George Heslop.

After all, the man has been watching Alty for ages and can even remember the first Alty game he attended, when we played a pre-season friendly against a Roman Legions XI in Chester.....

My vote would go to the one and only Brian Flynn!

I would nominate George Heslop but he's always threatening to sue me.

I suspect the gazelle is technically the "biggest Alty fan"...!

Jezza,

I was only using it last evening to purchase various CDs, none of which would appeal to the gazelle's 'taste'...

5903
Could we not purchase a square in the name of that pilfering chef from Northwich...?

From John Laidlar's website...

COOKING THE BOOKS AT NORTHWICH

IC Cheshire reports that "Cash-strapped Northwich Vics were left reeling after their head chef scarpered with £8,000 in takings from a fundraising dinner. Paul Johnstone vanished on Saturday night after one of the club’s biggest fundraising events of the year. The theft was discovered the following morning. Chairman Mike Connett is offering a £1,000 reward for information leading to the crooked cook’s prosecution. Mr Connett said:'It’s a substantial amount, but it’s not about the money – I don’t like a thief. A lot of people have trusted him and this is for them'. Police believe Johnstone, who also goes by the name Paul Kempthorn, lied about his identity from the day he was taken on in March. After the investigation was launched officers discovered Johnstone had never lived at the address he had given when he took the job. He claimed to be 27, but also gave a date of birth in 1973. Det Sgt Simon Newell, of Northwich Specialist Investigation Unit, said: 'We think he’s given false details from the outset. He’s gained the trust of the staff there and he had the keys to the safe. We are satisfied an offence has taken place and that this person is responsible. But we need to identify who he is'". Police are reportedly searching for a man wearing a tall white hat and an apron.

Whatever happened to Mike Crockett?

Has anyone heard anything of him since he was deported back to Elgin?

Mr Cult,

You will note that at no time have I referred to the failure of Mr Tinson to successfully block the initial cross which led to the first goal.

I thank you

ATS,

A split infinitive in your posting.....hang your head in shame!

What would Andy Black have said?

Don't think that playing anyone who isn't a natural left back at left back would have made any difference.

Scotty tried but, as has been said earlier, the passer of the ball had far too much time and space to hit the ball(s) which did for us (twice!!!!)

We have to remember that they are full time and have hours to practice clipping balls over full backs.

despite what has been said I still think that, given the starting positions Scotty had a sod of a job to cut out either ball and that we were a touch unfortunate with both goals....but ain't that just our season????????????????

Dare I suggest that you wouldn't have been quite so forgiving if those errors had been perpetrated by Darren Tinson?!

Last few games the previews seem to have gone and it seems to have gone a bit slack.

Has anyone else noticed?

I suspect that the Messenger reporter has switched his attention to updating a regular bulletin on the possibility of a riot breaking out at Tesco.

a left back on loan has to be a priority

Never a truer word written.

Scotty has been a great servant for Alty but his two calamitous errors cost us dearly at Stevenage tonight.

I dread to think how many points we have dropped because of our lack of a proper left full back this season.

Mind you, I have to say that Coburn didn't really cover himself in glory on the second goal.

We certainly deserved a draw from that game and it was encouraging to see us pass the ball well and actually look composed on the ball.

Little and Senior worked their socks off but O'Neill was a total passenger.
