Altrincham FC First Team / Has Dalton Steele resigned?

That was the rumour in the bar after the game.

The man has some honour.

That was the worst Alty performance I have witnessed in years.

I believe that we will be welcoming at least one younger player from a lower league in January.  :-X

Are you signing on a non-contract basis then, Ballers?

Well, you are younger than Val Owen.....

Its really easy to just start blaming the management but when you end up with 13 fit players because your budget is so tight its pretty obvious which direction we'll go in league and cup matches.

But back in the Summer we signed players with dodgy fitness records e.g. Potts and Whalley.

Still can't fathom out why we released Rose.

This regular sight seems to irritate the peerless John Laidlar.

He has raised this topic before (and even captured the phenomenon on camera at Forest Green Rovers earlier this season) and mentions it twice in his match report from Nuneaton:

(1) "But then Chris Senior forced a good, low save from Acton following good work by Logan (14 mins). Stepien now won Borough a corner for which Alty brought everyone back into their box."

(2) "Brown's shot clipped the cross-bar but the referee felt Coburn had turned it over the bar and gave a corner, which Alty again defended with all 11 men in their own box."

Why do we persist with this bewildering tactic?

It was the league cup.  Last time I checked we had not become a big enough club to toss off prize money in anything.

Agreed, Ecky.

In the last eight days, we have contrived to miss out on prize money in two competitions totalling £6,500.

Wouldn't some of that money have been rather useful in January?

Aspinall at right back and Scott at left back hardly fills you with confidence.

Read the Vince Lombardi quotes below

UC,

I'll need a bottle of sherry at your shindig tomorrow to drown my sorrows...

Whalley cried off sick this morning....think he'll need to do some serious playing for his future.

Please tell me he is not on a contract....

No disrespect to Pottsy who has been an absolute star for Alty and maybe it's because I've been watching for more years than I'd really like to admit to but the word legend is used far too frequently now and, if you consider Kingy, JR, John Davison Jackie Swindells etc to be true legends then I'm afraid Pottsy doesn't quite reach that esteemed level.

Perhaps, in true innovative Alty fashion, we could have Legend 1st Class, Legend 2nd Class etc. all the way down to Wayne Entwistle or Colin Williams???

Great, a good thread to make sure pottsy knew how much we appreciated all he did for us (ie getting us back in the conf) and many fans confirming that his efforts and standout skill elevate him to an alty legend and you come along and ruin it with the usual negative crap that contents itself in your posts! what a pr1ck!

If you are going to have these opinions start another thread instead of ruining a tribute thread. Hopefully a moderator will take this post down because of the offense it causes you and take yours with it you tw@t!

Air horns forever!

Which part of ATS's opening line did you fail to comprehend?

For once, I find myself in agreement with Mister Taylor.

Pottsy was an integral part of the 2004/2005 side that won promotion via the play-offs and set up countless goals for Little and Hallows.....but the term "legend" is being bandied about too lightly here.

Now, if you're talking wingers, Barry Howard is a Moss Lane legend....

(i say this because i consider the sultana shield a waste of time and that the CSC is more important than this stupid competitions, i hope GH rests a few players i.e. switch 5 starters to the bench and makes sure the lads are as ready for northwich

I may be wrong here.....but doesn't one of the rules of the Setanta Shield state that you must field eight of the 11 players who started the previous game?
