But you couldn't have a full break for the lower leagues and keep the Premiership going.  How would it work with the FA Cup and League Cup?  They're both financially crucial for the smaller clubs.

jacko - i feel you are making an over reaction to an unusual event.  It's not every season we lose ALL the crimbo fixtures it is.  No.

When would you take your break?  there is no guarantee whatsoever that the wqorst weather will occur to fit in with your break.  So we could still end up with a backlog of games.  a winter break will not assist.

and of course if we did have a winter break and moss lane is sitting idle with a perfectly playable pitch for most of the time (as is the case most winters) then there'd be total uproar!

I just think it has to move with the times, its clear the game  can't be played in the conditions it could be in the early days I mean pitches are like icerinks after a touch of frost, its not an overeaction just common sense

at last common sense should provail ie fregie and redknapp, all the top managers want this break and surely this is the way forward for all our leagues, you never know it might do our national game a bit of good

The major issue is that only one game in the Premiership has been postponed - and that has been a rarity over the past few years.  There's no way that the Premiership will change their whole fixture structure to suit the lower leagues.

Correction ... There is no way that the Premiership will change their whole fixture structure and risk upsetting Rupert f**kING Murdoch and SKY TV..

Plain and Simple..

Plus unless it pisses down or snows for about 3 days solid, 90 odd percent of premiership teams have underground heating...

Forget the premier league doing anything that doesnt suit them, they couldnt really give a toss about the rest of the teams from the Championship downwards...

Yes I know they are giving the conference leagues 6 million over 3 years but it is f**k all when you see what Gimps like Rooney et al  are on a week eh?

Our players were knackered at the end of last season having had a massive unscheduled winter break. The games have to be played at some point, it will just catch up with them elsewhere and consequently clubs like alty miss out on big pay days. Obviously fixtures wont be as congested but the season wont be that much longer that it helps in the long run.
