What was Newby like?
Looked lively, if not a little lightweight.

Well, I'm going to be controversial tonight and not popular ...but I'm gonna say it. And, having been to every home game and only missed 2 away games all season I feel I have the right ...but I was pissed off with our fans picking out 2 players ( Cyrus and Hannigan) for direct stick today. Booing the ref for not sending Cyrus off, and replying to the Fylde support who were chanting Toms name with " you can have him back " is out of order. Particularly as these guys were right in front of the fans...I wonder if you'd be as brave on your own or say them face to face?

Not too sure what you expected today, and I applaud you for making the effort  to go, but it's counter productive to offer support by travelling then to loudly slag off individuals (who are not making errors deliberately). Plus, I happened to think Hannigan played well today - but of course that is personal opinion.

I'm all for the Roweley chants --he does need to go -- but he's not on the pitch and I was unhappy at these 2 players being picked out like that.

Tend to agree if I'm honest but I think and hope that they were more tongue in cheek chants than anything laughing at our own demise, especially that of Hannigan. I think most supporters would agree that he alone isn't the problem this season.

As for people saying Doughty out etc I'd have to disagree, no manager can undo what has happened here in such a short space of time, you'd need a miracle. You can't just get rid of every single manager that comes through the door if you don't see instant results, it's going to take a lot of time to turn this around.
do you think we should have kept Harvey ? .

No, because I saw absolutely no fight from him whatsoever, we actually got worse I'd say plus the players he brought in added nothing. I've seen some better players under doughty already and a little bit more tenacity. I think that's earned him some more time if nothing else. Besides the season is gone now, what manager in his right mind would want to come here until the end of the campaign?

A battling defeat is all I ask for today. If we keep it within 2 goals I'll be pleased.

Absolutely no chance  ;D

How many games has Doughty had?

Best defence in the division (how I miss Scott Leather ) and in the mix despite Josh O'Keele.  They don't score hatfuls. We'll lose 1-0.

I still cannot believe Neil Young got rid of leather. An absolutely baffling decision

Grahame Rowley is just as bad as Jim Rushe and Mike Connett. He's using the football club as his own little play thing and it's ruining the good name of Altrincham Football Club.

Nonsense

I just meant he is running our club into the ground as they did with Vics,I wasn't comparing the way they did things. Apologies,I should have made myself clearer.

More understandable comparison but I believe he cares about the club unlike rushe etc who was simply a criminal at the end of the day. I think saying it's his own little play thing isn't right at all.

Good signings. Obviously Sean Miller has been the player of the season and Lawrence Taylor has impressed with his performances so far. Sounds like Matt and Robbie will be in charge next year otherwise allowing them to put together a core of 8-9 players and then bringing in a new man is a another disastrous move. I don't think the board have a clue who they want and are obviously scared to death of making another cock up. Let's hope Matt and Robbie get it right.
I'd be releasing Dawber,  Cyrus , Patterson , McWilliams , Lawrie , Hobson , Reeves , Goodall, Wilko (not enough desire). . The rest I'd probably keep. Not sure about Brownhill or Owens yet and have concerns about Deasey but believe he is on a contract.

I too would keep the current management team. We seem to be playing the least worst football under them just about and of course it will take time for them to put right the absolute mess that is Altrincham post colchester so I'll have patience.

In terms of players I think wilkinson has potentially the best vision in the team so think he'd be an asset to have in the league below. Reeves, although anonymous for most of this season for whatever reason I think could also possibly thrive in an attacking side in the league below especially now that miller is signed up. Same goes for James Lawrie who is still our top scorer this season.

Sorry, I don't see how it's beneficial for the board to not care how well the football team are doing?

What do you think is in it for them if the community side is currently prospering but the team isn't?

Make no mistake this is not going to end soon, expect a third relegation next season with things as they are.

Theres a cancer in the club - it needs to be ripped out or we will continue to die

Doubt it. Even this team has beaten some of the better sides in the league below.

I get the feeling there will be quite a quality drop when we go into the evostik

Im at a total loss as to why someone who assisted in our relegation and the 2nd 10 game disastrous run is seen as the man to turn things around....2-0 down after 9 mins...really dont think the players are being sent out with correct message in their ears.

Cant believe the damage ny has done...the club is infected...sorry the 1st team is completely infected...good job the club is thriving

I think we're at the point now where the blame cannot be put anywhere other than the players. I think it would be a bit unfair to shift it to doughty.

Anyway the first 10 minutes killed us today. Absolutely appalling start followed by an all out assault on Gainsborough's 18 yard box with little end product until sheer force got us over the line with 10 or so to go, and even then it was a scramble.

I thought Taylor was very assured for his first match in this league and would hope to hold on to him for next season based off that where he should thrive.
Clee again was very good
New lad up front very lively but probably should have scored at least one.

It's all academic now anyway. If you can't beat a team 2 places above you in the relegation zone at home then it's all but over with the points total we have. I think Gainsborough were the worst team I've seen us play so far this season as well but if you gift wrap 3 goals for any side which we did today you're not going to win anything.

After having a quick look across the league, it averages out at about £9.50 an adult and £5 per concession. The majority of clubs offer free entry to either U16 or U12 fans. I think the latter is the most important here, as we desperately need to build upon the influx of younger fans that we've seen over the past two seasons. We can't afford for them to drift away and it as absolutely imperative that we keep them interested. I'd look at knocking the U16 price down from £5 to £2, to keep these lads coming to games. For U12s, I think its time to bring back the free admission vouchers that did so well a few years back. They could be placed in convenient locations for collection on the week of a game: local school offices, the leisure centre, cafes, youth clubs.

I agree with the idea of branding the club as a "day out" for as long as we're at that level, and part of that has to be maintaining an attraction for punters. With the likes of Stockport, FC United and Salford we've had these mega fixtures to prop us up and keep us attractive this season, not one game will be on par with those next year and so its up to the club to rebuild an attraction that works for this level. Developing a welcoming atmosphere for families is great in itself, but atmosphere and buzz comes from the floating customers having a couple of beers. How do we get them back here despite the drop in league?

Agree on that. I think a big pull next season re:the floating fan could be in allowing drinking in view of the pitch. I know some won't like it but it would definitely attract those that may otherwise be on the fence.

However in another thread I've read that it may not be so simple to implement so might not be an option

Save yourself your time Brian and don't bother interviewing them as it's the same spiel but just from a different mouth.

What else would you want him to say?

Buzz thought we were ok against FCUM, so he knows f**k all about anything

We aren't going to become a good team overnight, doesn't matter who's in charge. I'm sure Buzz is aware of the situation we're in and knows that we'll need to be better to pick up points.
