Please can someone explain to me why we need a third choice shirt?

and just while i'm on it, what was wrong with all referees and linesmen wearing black?

Better still, the ones in our league should be required to wear a big L

Wilma, the Tea Lady at Flint, told me that they are also known as 'The Stones'

Not satisfied with just being plain old 'Town' or 'United' - I see that Welsh club Flint have called themselves Flint Town United.

Andy White had a good game as did Tony Thompson. Hannigan did OK but ,for me, was not at his best.  Sean Williams came on as sub and did well when given the chance.  Josh Amis got himself sent off but then they went on to get a 90th minute winner with 10 men.  Finally... they also had a man sent off at the death for a purely agricultural tackle.  Eventful game and very enjoyable.

It could be possible.  They are currently level on points with Maidenhead who are carrying a 3 goal difference advantage.

Current scores are Torquay 1 Wrexham 0 and Gateshead 3 Maidenhead 0

Altrincham FC First Team / Controversial

I don't expect that many folk will agree with this, however...
I think that going full-time was a mistake that could cost us dearly (in more ways than one).  We were sold the full-time ideal as the only way that we could continue to foster thoughts of making it to the cherished land of league football and I, for one, succumbed to the arguments in favour of this.  If I had known that we were destined to have a bottom 4 National League budget with no significant inward investment (apart from the Seedrs equity provided by the Club's supporters) I would have not been so happy.  Why couldn't we of remained a hybrid club that welcomed the best part-time players and a few carefully chosen full-timers (i.e. Colclough) supported by loanees the likes of Maxi. We lost the Mag7 because of the move to full time and, you know, I am certain that had we retained those players and had the same luck of the draw, as we did, in the FA Trophy I have no doubts that we would have made it to Wembley and more than likely won the competition.

We do need to move on. I agree, but, I think that before we embark upon a financially risky venture to gain Football League status we should bear in mind that our crumbling 'Stadium' is becoming an embarrassment.  Are we going to do anything about in preparation to joining EFL2 or are we just going to see how we get on and patch it up from time to time?  Not good enough methinks!

I want to avoid saying anything negative so I will just like to say how good they were and wish them all the best.

nickname: The Linbins.

'Linbins' just so happens to be an anagram of Blinis which is Ukrainian for Pancakes.  Very nice they are too. Good with Philly and a touch of smoked salmon.

They sell mini blinis in most supermarkets in the chiller.  I might have to pop down to Tesco and get some.  Yes, I,m going now. yum, yum.

Now that I'm old and slow, there are some grounds I will never visit again for various reasons. The Moss Rose is at the head of the list.

That remark resembles me.

I wonder if the bad element  from their support will turn out.

"Seven men have been arrested following an investigation into disorder at Macclesfield Football Club's NWCFL Premier Division fixture against Congleton Town. Officers were made aware of disorder at the Moss Rose football ground at around 4.50pm on Monday 30 August 2021"

"8 Aug 2022 — A man was taken to hospital after trouble flared at an FA Cup tie between Macclesfield FC and Wythenshawe Town"

And others as well as these. Bizarrely, when I began to enter 'Crowd trouble at Moss Rose' to conduct a google search it preempted 'Moss Lane'

Now that is irony.

This bodes well for the future and can only serve to help the club attract more of the best young talent.

The reasoning behind why some clubs are allowed to retain (or revert back to) the name of a defunct club that they are effectively seeking to clone probably has a lot to do with the circumstances under which the original club managed their decline and left the Football League.

A bit of research on t'interweb  reveals that Accrington Stanley FC resigned from the FL mid-season in 1962 but didn't actually go into liquidation until 1966 and apart from them causing a bit of inconvenience I can see why they would be allowed to enter the Football league using the defunct club's name of Accrington Stanley FC.

Anyway, the milk advert went like this.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pieK7b4KLL4

By the way, why were Newport and Maidstone allowed to have their old names?

Accrington Stanley FC were formed in 1891 and went bust in 1962.  A team with a similar name, Accrington Stanley (1968) FC, emerged in, well, 1968 and this was the name they were using when we knocked them out of the FAC 4QR in 1974/75 (the Everton Season).  They quietly lost the '1968' moniker sometime later on.  Anyone else remember the milk advert?
