Title: Bobby Jeffrey
Post by: Sale Holmfield on June 06, 2017, 10:21:51 PM
One for the historians, but it appears that Bobby Jeffrey, who played for us in 1964-65, sadly has died at the age of 74 in Cambridge. Among other clubs in England, Scotland and Wales, he played for Celtic and Scotland U23s. His wikipedia entry, not updated with his death, is below.
Does anyone know any more about his career with us?

Before my time, too, but the records I've got show him making seven appearances in 1964-65, all in the Cheshire League, as follows:
16.1.65 v Runcorn (h - drew 3-3); 30.1.65 v Winsford (a - lost 1-4); 6.2.65 v Frickley (h - drew 0-0); 13.2.65 v Macc (a - lost 1-4); 20.2.65 v Chester Reserves (a - won 1-0); 27.2.65 v Rhyl (h - lost 0-1); 13.3.65 v Sankeys (Wellington) - he scored one of the goals in a 2-0 away win.
To put him in context to a degree - a fortnight or so after his last appearance one Jack Swindells arrived at Moss Lane.
Hope this helps.

I recall him so must have attended some of those games. I remember witnessing us get hammered at Macc a few times in the early 60's so probably will have been at that one....that's a frighteningly long time ago!
