Shaw lane AQUAFORCE 19/10
Draw 31/10
Altrincham 10/11
Hope some of the walking wounded can return on Thursday
-
We'll sh*t um.
-
Desperately need Hampson or White to play.
Alty 3-0. All scored in the 2nd half by 3 different heros.
-
It would obviously be better to start with proper full backs in their proper positions if we can. But I wouldn’t rush anyone back on Thursday before they are ready, for what will likely be the easiest of the 3 quickfire away games. Albeit all against teams in poor form.

I must admit I think Lancaster may be the hardest of the three.....I seem to think our record there is less than inspiring (Mike Garnett may prove me wrong).

Overall record at Lancaster - played 20, won 5, drawn 6, lost 9, scored 26, conceded 30. I think you have a point.

See there is a pitch inspection at Athersley Rec today

I wonder if Lee Poland is available

Can't understand why everyone seems to think Thursday will be easy (if it goes ahead!)
Bog of a pitch against agricultural hoofballers is the worst case scenario for a team attempting to play passing football without a longball plan B.
Truly hope I'm spectacularly wrong!! ;)

Probably because we’ve just easily beaten the same “agricultural hoofballers” 5-1 on our own bog of a pitch. And, because since the start of March their league record reads W1 L6 (the solitary win coming against Sutton Coldfield).
We might play better when everything is in our favour, but that’s the same for any team. You don’t get to April, after a relatively wet winter, as long-time league leaders with zero ability to adapt to different conditions.
There are no guarantees in football, but personally I’d consider it a bit of an upset if we didn’t win should the game go ahead tomorrow.
-
Pitch Update: Groundshare hosts Athersley Rec have had their game tonight postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. We will hold a pitch inspection tomorrow ahead of our game against @altrinchamfc Time to be confirmed.
-
It’s actually good news that, it’s supposed to be sunny tomorrow and that pitch has not been able to take two games quickly all season
-
Aquofforce.
-
Aquoffarce.
-
When does this become OFFicial?
-
They have just tweeted that's it's 99.99% certain to be off.
-
Official inspection in the morning, but I am in Barnsley at the moment, and that bad news does not surprise me at all. It has rained, sometimes heavily, most of the day and, even though Sheerien Park evidently is a poor pitch, all the other local games elsewhere tonight were postponed too.
-
I get bad weather etc etc but after tomorrow is seemingly inevitably postponed then Shaw Lane have a quarter of their remaining home fixtures to fit in, in the last 20 days of the scheduled season which is plainly ridiculous by any standards. How the League have not stepped in and ordered them to find an alternative venue by now is baffling.

In the absence of the League extending the season, which is unlikely, they'd be advised to offer switching the games to their opponent's grounds. It's not as if they play at home as it is.

With Athersley Recs also having a backlog of home games, it's impossible to see how Sheerien Park has any chance of coping. Finding anywhere else to play in the South Yorkshire Swamplands doesn't look feasible either.

Are Shaw Lane playing stupid games - 99.99% saying its off last night and now apparently working hard to get the game on ?
Me and my 3 boys decided against planning to go tonight given it had 0.01% chance of happening - are they trying to reduce our away support?
Now it sounds more 50/50?
-
Yes, I was planning on going straight from work but I've decided it's unlikely to happen and made alternative plans.
I think they've got to at least try to get the game on given their predicament.

12pm pitch Inspection at sheerin Park, I wouldn’t take the word of any of these clubs twitter accounts about weather and games being on or off after previous games this season, this is the level we have been taken to at present unfortunately

Got to agree. Most accounts are run with the best of intentions, but they aren't the most reliable. It's my understanding that the '99.9%' statement was made by their Twitter volunteer. No direct contact was made to the club.
Fully expect it to be off anyway.

Match off 12 noon.
