Not reached a point where we change formation just yet, (the next 2 games may change that).
Assuming Hampson and Poole are unavailable.
Thompson
Densmore Goulding Hannigan White
Moult Richman
Johnson Hancock Daniels
Hulme
Whilst not making wholesale changes , I certainly expect a much improved performance. Would like to see Bannister on the bench with view to coming on as an attacking option.
A clean sheet would be most welcome.
Darlington 2-1 Altrincham (Hancock)
-
On the above selection, the attacking option from the bench would be Peers, with Harrop behind him.
-
I would be inclined to have Peers in for Daniels
-
Darlington 6/5
Draw 5/2
Alty 21/10
-
Back to winning ways with a 2-1 win at Darlo.
-
They've only won one of their opening five games, and shipped five goals last Saturday. We really should be beating teams lime that.
I agree on a 2-1 win.
-
We've had a difficult run of fixtures to start the season though...
Brackley, Spennymoor and Kidderminster all away and all fancied to be pushing for play offs at least.
Blyth at home who beat Chester 8-1 in their previous match.
The only "easy" game on paper was Curzon for the season opener, and they just happen to be a massive bogey team for us - and they aren't bad either, grabbing a draw at York after beating us.
There are obviously big question marks over our defence after last week, but we were after all away to Kidderminster who are probably the best footballing side in the division - and also we had to play with 10 men for 75 minutes which didn't help. Conceding 5 may have been a blip, we will see.
One thing we will do this season is score goals with Ainge, Styche and Thompson as well as Nicholson
I'm not expecting Alty to be an easy game, and who knows, you may well win - but I just don't think you should be looking at us yet as "the sort of team we should be beating" based on 5 matches.
-
Hi Quakerz, you need to take most posts on here with a pinch of salt, I believe today is a very tough game for Alty, both teams have quality. It will be down to who shows the best on the day.
-
Yeah I suppose, it just narked me a bit to see someone rate us as a team that you should be beating, when we have plenty of quality and play off ambitions. Obviously time will tell if we are good enough for the play offs or not.
And to be rating us as a club that you should be beating when you've made exactly the same start as us, is rubbing a pinch of that salt in the wounds a little bit :)
-
darlo 0-3 alty at the moment
-
We really should be beating teams like this .. no disrespect etc

Great result and guess what.... a clean bloody sheet.Right decision to drop Thompson, should have been done last season. Wynne two great saves.
Good decision to play Jones, as he has played really well this season apart from Spennymoor away.
Always good to have Densmore back. I think it allows JJ more freedom as Dens is reliable.
I couldn't make it to the game but Moult sounds like he had a great game. Winning a lot of headers, that's his sort of battle.
Hancock sounded immense in the number 10, which for me is his main position and he is quality there. Hulme seems to enjoy playing with him, they play well together.
Anyone have any idea what injury JJ has?
-
That all backfired a bit.
Defence rare poor and greatest footballing side posy Brazil 70 drew with Curzon.

You might need to edit that again.

Argh, I give up the point has gone ☹️

Dear me. We robbed you with the 0-3
I kid you not, it should have been 10-0 to you. When we went in 0-1 at half time after being completely outplayed I thought that we'd been let off the hook big style and that if we turned up 2nd half you might regret not finishing us in the first 45.
Credit to you as you looked good but we were beyond a shambles. If we carry on like that we're doomed.
-
Superb result. Didn't go so can't comment to much.
Was Richman injured?
-
Hope JJ's injury isn't too serious. Owen Dale looked lively and Wynne was class when he was needed
-
Clean sheet, away win, good performance. Great start to the weekend. lets keep it going Alty.
-
Great away win, lets hope we can start picking some points up at home!

Was Richman injured?
Yes, had a word with him before the game and he’s pulled his groin in training. Peers also injured...and JJ didn’t look great when he went off.
So, apart from these..and existing injuries we’re looking good! That was a great performance all over the pitch, would be churlish to pick any individuals out ....but I feel a mention must go to Elliot for a great debut. Contender for save of the season from that header. The new loanee played very well too...bags of effort and trickery.
Just hoping we can produce our away form on Monday...the fans who don’t travel deserve to see us play like this
-
What a difference in the way the two teams reacted to a poor result in their previous match!
There must be a slight concern still over the failure to put away chances when we are dominating the game, as alluded to by Quakerz, but that is more than offset by actually keeping a clean sheet, with Elliott Wynne's wonder save just before the end. It is probably unfair to pick out individuals in an excellent team performance, but special praise for the two debutants

How pleasant it was! A walk in the park at Darlington’s South Park, followed by another at Blackwell Meadows. Darlington’s players could perhaps take to the bowling green, and still find they lack aggression and skill. Still, Alty managed to be superb at missing the target in a bizarrely one sided first half. Hulme took up the baton from Johnstone’s grandstanding silliness in the second half, and also got booked. Meanwhile Darlington continued to delight with little dinked, flighty corners and their defenders’ determination to run away from the ball at the most critical moments. Then came a spell of improved finishing, with a couple of shots on target, and a couple of goals. As if waking up from a dream, late on, Darlington’s top bowls prospect headed a ball towards South Park. The Alty goal was in the way of the flight of the ball, but all of a sudden, a balletic, leaping, twisting Wynne produced the top quality moment of the match to flip it away. A first trip down from the Dales this season and it didn’t disappoint. Johnstone’s dramatically strapped up leg and painful hobbling wasn’t a pretty sight though.

An excellent response after the last two results. Lots of positives, apart from totally dominating the game and keeping the first clean sheet of the
season. Pretty good debuts for Wynne and Dale with Wynne pulling off a couple of good saves late on and Dale looked very useful. Overall a really
good performance. Hope JJ is not too badly injured.
