Altrincham FC First Team / Liam Watson being a bit over-confident

Southport are doing really well, there's no doubt about it. However, I can't remember the last time 40 points was a sufficient total to stay up in the Conference!

Altrincham FC First Team / Hope this isn't bad news for us

Andy Sinton was unhappy with the application and effort from some of his players in their defeat to Ebbsfleet today. I hope he doesn't feel inclined to end the loan deals for Lawrie and Williams early!

Altrincham FC First Team / Forget 6-1 victories.....
« on: October 15, 2011, 05:40:16 PM »
.....wins like this one today tell me a hell of a lot more about our chances this season. We've now shown that we have the tenacity and heart to grind out tough results and that is ultimately even more satisfying than dishing out a hiding. It reminds me a bit of when we scored that late, late winner against Hyde in 1999 - absolutely superb! I just hope the injury situation isn't too bad because Reeves and Clee are crucial to our chances.

So, both teams will be looking to bounce back from poor results this coming Saturday.

18 year old loan player Tom Bender was treated on the pitch for 30 minutes tonight before being taken away in an ambulance on a drip. Both sets of players were apparently badly shaken up.

Hope the lad is ok and makes a full recovery, it's terrible to hear of things like this.

Altrincham FC First Team / Home advantage
« on: October 01, 2011, 03:58:41 PM »
Sorry to harp on about this but whose bright idea was it not to segregate the game today? What's the point having home advantage if you're going to let the away fans sing/celebrate in your home end? Really irritates me this sort of thing. I'm all for being a friendly family club but the away end is for away fans and we shouldn't be letting them in our covered home end for a big cup match like this.

Altrincham FC First Team / Southport's Steve Daly Retires

Says he cannot commit to travelling etc. due to having a young family. Wouldn't be surprised if he turns up playing in Conf North or Evo Stik after a while - very useful player.

Altrincham FC First Team / If we can just be more consistent....
« on: September 20, 2011, 10:01:53 PM »
......we can achieve that top 5 spot we're looking for. It's quite clear to me that when the team is on song and attacking like we did tonight there aren't many teams in this division who can cope with us. Yes, we could do with more strength in depth and hopefully we'll see our injury concerns eased in the coming weeks. However, tonight was a statement of intent for me and it was great to hear that Matt Fearon rose to the challenge so well. Now let's have more of the same on Saturday!

We can do this!!
