Another thing that made this one of all-time favourite Alty moments was that Kettering had started this game a long way clear at the top. 12 points or so? Or maybe that was how far ahead of us they were? Either way, it meant that a win for us in this game was vital. But as Cult says, we seemed to have thrown it away - Kettering's two goals came within a minute of each other, the second being a terrible howler by Wealands pretty much straight from the kick-off after the first - until our glorious last-minute winner.
My memory is that it took what seemed an agonising amount of time for Ken to put the ball away. He'd rounded the keeper and then had to find a gap between the two covering defenders on the line and I'm not sure he struck it perfectly but it finally found its way into the back of the net. Cue mayhem. I was in the main stand with my Dad and I don't think I'd ever been so ecstatic. It was the moment we started to believe we could win the league.
