The Tescos thread.
« on: November 07, 2007, 06:44:06 PM »

Inadvertentley, this is rapidly turning into a cult classic. Make sure you read the responses to the story, it's got it all, incredulousness, irony, Millwall and Alty fans both amazed at the wierdoes.

My current favourite response is the brilliant opportunism from Sainsburys

...because Tescos is a prime target isn't it? Imagine it now "Ding dong - riot in aisle 5 - and can I get price on tinned peas?".
...because

Its a nothing short of laughable - Thougt they only shut 2 days a year .. amazing

Yip Greater Manchester Police can cope with 70,000+ at OT and 40,000+ at City of Manchester Stadium but become panic stricken at the thought of 3,000 at Moss Lane ..

SHUT THE TOWN - Its funny but also annoying as seems to be affecting ticket sales.

Just been telling the girlfriend  about the Tesco thread on the SAM website: her immediate reaction was to say that Millwall fans have a bad reputation.

You have to have a certain amount of sympathy to the average Millwall fan when even a supposedly enlightened  local councillor (the g/friend) still has this opinion of Millwall fans.

Now surely you have to feel sorry for Millwall fans who wanted a drink \ sandwich and buy a paper .. Talk about one set of fans ruining it for others !!!!  ;)

No sooner had I posted theabove than we had a phone call. They hung up on answering - but it was  London number. Must have been those Millwall fans!

Well, we (as a town and probably as a football club) are now a complete laughing stock but at least it's give the Millwall lads a laugh

http://www.millwall.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=6545&start=26&posts=26

and you have to totally agree with them, loved the quip about last time we had a big cup game some mad bastard went through the five items or less till with a trolley.  :D

Aside from the fact it's complete attention seeking from tescos maybe it should be our gimmick for Saturday. Wave baguettes about (from Sainsbury's obviously), bring loads of Sainsburys bags etc

IMO the only ones looking stupid out of all this are the police and Tesco.
Fair play to Sainsburys for their post on the Messenger site !

Shame we can't give some tickets away. I'd be inclined to get down to Tesco and give all their Saturday staff a free ticket !!!
