If the terracing is an issue they should  give York the whole popular side and close the chequers end, and put Alty fans in the Golf Road and close the masuoleum.

If the pitch is OK I'm sure that the terracing could be sorted.

Just been to the ground and I see no prospect of any game being on in the next month, the pitch is that bad. However I did bump into a woman at the cheese counter in Tesco who said she spoke to her brother in Invernes who said the snow was clearing on his garden so there is a chance the game could be on!!!

was around and about literally half an hour ago, i would say 50/50 whether the game is on. the ice outside is still quite bad i was slipping all over the place but i can't see that being a massive factor, its purely based on the referees opinion of the playing surface to be honest

THE UTHER MAJOR FACTOR AFTER THE FITNESS OF THE PITCH, IS THE SAFETY OF THE TERRACES.

The pitch ultimately will decide but for God's sake what's difficult about getting some grit/salt for the terraces and walkways?

Fingers crossed, I have had to delay my departure time due to the pitch inspection as I don't really want to shell out £22 on a train ticket if it's going to be off.

If it's on I shall be on the 09.58 to Manchester, arriving 11.19 then straight on the tram to Alty, hopefully arriving about 12, still plenty of time to see the sights!

Good luck to the ground staff anyway.

Or even asking people to bring their own salt for their own place to stand  ;)

There are a couple of issues here

Firstly, the Club has a duty of care to its visitors. A number of games as high as the premiership have been postponed during this recent cold snap due to off field conditions where the playing surface has been completely playable. Experience tells me that even the covered areas are 'dodgy' other than the back two or three 'steps'

In answer to your question - Firstly do we have sufficient salt/grit to do the job and, believe me to do what may conceivably need doing properly we would need almost literally tons. Secondly who's gonna spread it? There's a good few hours work to be done there

Can Do or Can't do?

If I lived by I'd volunteer, as many others have done before clearing the pitch etc. The ground is hardly cavernous and the cost of grit would easily be recompensed by a good holiday crowd.
