I noticed this the other day Robbo on Alty's website.As we would expect a lot of Alty fans are looking forward to Witton coming to town and make some very nice comments about our club.

Looking forward in going to Moss Lane,Alty are a great club with supporters that let you get on with being a Wittoner.

I bet we make up more than half the crowd.Now that really will annoy the Vics contributor on their forum.

I bet you don't...

The crowd will be 600+ and they won't bring more than 300

one guy will be disappointed if they don't win comfortably and another thinks this game is an "inconvenience" for us.

That comment was very much a tongue in cheek statement aimed at a certain Vics fan who always claims Wittons away support is much less than supporters suggest. (not that he's ever been to one of our away games). We do very often have half the crowd on our away days but when your playing at places like Woodley in front of 97 people thats not too hard. I have high hopes of us taking 150 tomorrow - thats about half our home crowd these days, who knows maybe a few of our stayaways may come out of hiding for this one. Heres hoping for a good game anyway.

It's a far cry from the days when we were both in the top flight of non-league along with four other Cheshire clubs.....and then there were none

I remember a second qualifying round game between Witton and Vics in 1976-77 that had nearly 2000 at it!  Vics led by Kingy won 3-1 and marched into the 4th round.

And 2000 would have been 3 or 400 more than normal Witton home gate + normal Vics home gate at that time

Bill,

I'm pretty certain that:

(i) Kingy scored a hat-trick for Vics that afternoon;

(ii) all three of his goals were headers.

Information dredged up from distant memories of the game being reported on by that august old Non League publication: Netstretcher....!
