Stafford for me last season were the worst team I have seen for many years.

When we beat Merthyr Tydfil  9-2 in 1991 they were actually pretty good and their keeper was outstanding.  Seriously!

Gary Wager - his name has lodged in my memory.

I actually came away from that famous Merthyr game disappointed that we had failed to reach double figures!
Never satisfied, eh?

Isn't there some footage of it from a Welsh TV Channel?

south liverpool anybody?
I seem to recall that South Liverpool were a bit of a bogey side for us, regardless of their (usually lowly) league position. We lost 6-0 at their ground back in 1970.

I was actually at that game in Garston. What a nightmare!

The Laurie Brown era.....he resigned a few weeks later, didn't he?

Sorry. It was meant in a positive (i.e. non-sarcastic) way!

Colwyn Bay away when Rod scored a hat-trick, very pooer, I kind of liked the low shed end with the seats we stood on and banged our heads when we scored.

One of the worst teams (and grounds and inhospitable locals and inhospitable weather) that I've seen beat us was Tow Law Town.

it is lost in the mists of time why i didnt get up that morning, but i still slightly regret missing out on worksop 0 altrincham 7
3 sided ground and all

i dont remember much about my 1 visit to south liverpool except that the place was falling down and there was no-one there. late 70s sometime, and a couple of alty fans got in the programme for cycling there.

Ellesmere Port,We beat them at their gorund in a FA cup replay, their fans invaded the pitch in an effort to get the game stopped, and then attacked us in the car park after the game.Camil Laird first time we ever played them(cheshire senior cup)away we lost, the ground was a bit like Stamford Park.

That Alfreton 5-0 where they wore our away kit is up there for me. I missed both Stafford games last season, though for the benefit of any passing slime fans, an honourable mention for Vics at the Boxing Day 3-0 two seasons ago, only about 2 of their team turned up that day and we had 10 men for most of it as well. That would easily be the worst display I've seen against us in the last 3 seasons without a doubt. I believe St Albans were particularly crap too?

Cambridge United were pretty poor when they lost 5-0 a few seasons back, they were all over the show players shrugging shoulders and looking at each other, summed it up when they were kept on pitch at full time.

Have to agree with this one, it was the worst i'd ever seen us play.

Blyth away in the Unibond was by far the coldest.

The Worksop Town game was actually Worksop 1 Alty 7 - with Mick Moore scoring 4 - the week before the Weymouth trophy quarter finals.  And it was on the pools coupons - which meant people got to see the result.  I remember having a conversation with a group of Weymouth fans about it in the queue for the turnstiles for the trophy game.

As far as coldest Alty matches go, I do not recall Ryhope being at all chilly - although I did spend an hour in the pub before the game despite not getting up til 0930 (in London!).

My votes for cold would go to Cammell Laird 3-2 defeat and FA Cup round 4 v York - in the latter  match I was questioned by police as to whether I was on drugs as I was only wearing a tee-shirt (and trousers of course).
