I remember it being said "We will build this team around Timons and Ellender".

Timons released by Ilkeston, Alty need centre half, is he up to it?

(I doubt it if he plys his trade at Ilkeston who avoided relegation on goal difference)

Timons was never up to it even in his prime (not suggesting he ever had one either) ;)

I disagree. I thought Timons was awesome in our promotion season and was a magnificent captain of the side. Admittedly, Ellender was the star of our defence but Timons' contribution to that side tends to be forgotten as a result.

Well we will have to agree to disagree on that one alty365

As ManagamentGuru asked is Timons up to it i.e. Blue Sqaure Conference football?  He must be about 33/34 years old now, I just can't see it.

He's been retained by Ilkeston not released. I thought Timmo was a decent defender when he was at Alty,we've certainly had a lot worse! Doubt very much he'd be upto to Conf national standard now though.

Chris Timons only missed one league game during our 1998/99 Unibond League Championship winning season and was a key factor in our success that campaign, as Alty365 rightly points out.

Alas, he found the following season in the Conference a real struggle.

Eight years on from then, I don't think that he's worth contacting....

Please say that is a joke...

he's definitely not up to it now, but come on, Timmons and Ellender was a simply formidable centre-half partnership.

For my money, as soon as he stopped having Ellender next to him (Who was, as we all said at the time, the "top banana") he always looked very vulnerable to me.
