I actually thought in the first half we played well - everything they attempted resulted in a goal virtually.

Second half I thought our defence wasnt at its best to say the least...  I know people on here rate him but I dont rate Robbie Williams one bit and I would rather see someone else in the centre back position. (I only live 10 miles from Telford if Lee ever wants me to drop him off)

The referee and lino (on the shady part of the pitch) were a fkn disgrace.

I know ATS wasn't at todays game but I even defy him to disagree with me on that one.

Apart from Colwyn Bay I do not enjoy away fixtures.

in terms of chances we probably had a similar amount. the difference is they took their and we didn't, particularly their 1st and 4th goals which were real class finishes.

if Reeves had scored that goal when he rounded the keeper off a back pass, it might have been a different story.

Well, we can't all blame Paul Jones for that defensive debacle.

Williams is certainly not the long term answer.
His second half 'pass' into touch in front of the main stand, when under no pressure whatsoever, just about summed up his performance.

And I've been really disappointed with Flynn since the league season commenced.
He suffered an utter nightmare at Harrogate and he wasn't much better yesterday.

The dearth of pace at the centre of our defence was ruthlessly exploited by the mobile and clinical Stalybridge forwards.

And, as Hughesy alludes in the title of this thread, we desperately need a left full back who understands how to defend.

Plenty of chances created, indeed, but virtually every game I see an opposition centre forward who I would swap for the ponderous Twiss at the drop of a hat.

The highlight of the afternoon was chatting to Mark Maddox in the bar before kick-off.

We were playing Stalybridge Celtic not Barcelona!
We were a yard of them from the off !
They were allowed to make through passes at will, in the first half!
We did not look motivated from the start!
We do playhalf decent football when we have it, but our desire to press & get the ball back is not good!!

I am not sure if Adam Flynn was playing to orders? but we could read what he was going to do from where we were stood on the  terraces ?Those long hopeful balls??
Lets have it right our defending as a team throughout was woeful!

Yes they are a good top 5 BSN team and they have a real shout of going up, but we need to get far more consistant with players with a greater desire and maybe we get Stalybridge in the play offs??

doughty is not the answer, his injury finished him,was a great player before that and it was a huge blow for him & us. brown is not good enough but neither if williams, flynn. apart from densmore, reeves, clee & coburn how many other of our players would get in the top sides in this division....very very few. yesterday was a shambles from start to finish

I've been mulling this one over, Stalybridge formed a very interesting 4-2-1-3 formation, we had no answer to it, I'm afraid we are a bit predictable a without a plan B.  Tactically harvey got this one right, we are far too gung ho away from home.

I think that is a very salient observation.

If Plan A works, we can look like an impressive side.

If it doesn't, then the blueprint for Plan B appears to have been misplaced down the back of a settee in Hull.

In our fifteen matches this season to date, we have yet to win a game when the opposition has scored first.

Doughty is not the answer but Evra could do a job at this level.

This thread made me think of left-backs past, in particular Kirk Hilton.

Did you know that after leaving Alty Kirk went on to play for Royal Antwerp: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirk_Hilton

Fascinating.
