Very honest interview with him on main site. Seems he's brutally honest and a straight talker. Sat behind him in stands for last 2 home games and he's very positive with his instructions. I'm very impressed.
I would like to know whic players are contracted though.
-
Yes,another good interview. I like the honesty he has with the players and I'm also impressed with the 4 players that have said they want to stay and fight for a place in the squad, just the sort of attitude we want.
-
Yes, he seems to be proving to be a very sound appointment, let's hope results reflect the current optimism!
Maybe the board got something right for a change,....?

Fixed it for you

Shaun Densmore appears to be attending more weddings than Hugh Grant.
Did I miss a news update announcing that he had been ordained?
-
My word, what's going on with Densmore? He has a wedding a week and one that will keep him out for the first two games? Hopefully it's his own or someone very close to him.

If it's his own I'd be very disappointed he'd organised in the season! With the amount of time he's spent out injured I'd have thought he'd be doing everything possible to get back in the side. If he's one of the players on contract do we have to allow him to miss two games for a wedding?
-
I'd pull any stunt possible to avoid going to a wedding, can't stand them.

I reckon he's moonlighting as a driver for a wedding car business ;)

Another honest assessment from the manager regarding last night's game on the main site.

Interesting that when he spoke about his central defensive options he didn't mention James Jones. He spoke as if Lynch and Harrison will start the season then it's up to Hannigan to dislodge them but no mention of Jones whatsoever?
-
I'll be staggered if Jones and Harrison don't start as cb's on Saturday and for the opener, but yes a bit odd.
Perhaps an oversight and he's a given.

Rob the data guru would know better but I think statistically they were due a good appointment...

All managers at this level love saying (after a win) how they have high standards though.

Running a football club making a good decision should be the norm not the exception

Probably true . I just can't remember it being applied to us
-
There should be something that sheds light on the James Jones situation in the next 10 minutes or so.
-
Sorry, meant to say 'on the club website'. It's getting late..
-
We'll have a higher player turnover rate than last season the way it's going! ;D
-
Slightly disappointing but I suppose we can hardly afford to carry four centre halfs. And given that Hannigan is most likely contracted and on a high wage (I don't think I'm talking out of school or saying less than obvious facts there?) then he has to be one of the three, although as you'll have noticed I have grave doubts about his fitness and we could potentially find ourselves short there. I guess Moult should be able to cover there at this level though.

your not wrong . I'm not adverse to him being bullish he has started well . Good luck to him.

It's all very new ground for us this though isn't it, watching the manager decide on which decent player who could do a job he has to release.
I get that it's easier to do at this level but it's quite different to us discussing who is the sh*ttest. Jim Harveys weekly centre halves from the midlands seem like a lifetime ago.
I've actually managed to talk to someone at work about Alty in the last couple of weeks without feeling the sense of awkwardness it has brought in recent times. Told him we've got a decent manager now and some decent players and we could be in for a good season. I'll ramp up the confidence a few games in (hopefully) as I still believe there will be 4-5 decent teams in this league who are not going to allow anything to be a walkover.
Been very impressed with the manager so far.
Quite a contrast to the embarrassment I felt when one of the ladies at work told me that her husband and son won free tickets to a game last season and they left at half time as it was so bad. There is a lot of repair work to do...

Much depends on Hannigan and Miller getting fit and staying fit. Both Jones and Wright would have been perfect for a promotion push.
