Dear Alty fans,
You may have read on the official website that Altrincham FC will be one of five clubs, nationally, to have been selected by Fans for Diversity for special publicity and promotion on Non League Day, 2017 which is Saturday, 7th October when AFC entertain Rushall Olympic from Walsall.
http://www.altrinchamfc.co.uk/news.htm (scroll down to 9th September News below Phil Parkinson on the Barwell game).
The day is themed an Inclusion & Diversity day for all of the 5 clubs (apart from Alty they are, Slimbridge, Hitchin Town, Solihull Moors and Metropolitan Police)
This is quite an honour for the Club and we are building an event for the match, not just the match itself, which, of course, will be a great display of football (!) but to attract locals who may not yet have been bitten by the AFC bug as those of us on here have, we are planning activities off pitch too. More information about confirmed activities will be announced on the AFC Twitter and Facebook page as well as on the official website but in the meantime, if you have any practical ideas which you may also be able to help with, please email the Non League Day Project Working Group at afcnld@gmail.com or message me using this forum.
The first announcement is that Alty legendary goalie and "England's Number One" Stuart Coburn will be in attendance for questions, chats and autographs
We really want the day to be a success and to show to the town of Altrincham that we are still here and have ambitions and that the fans of the club can achieve a lot for the club.
The event is also designated as a Women at the Game event, so please share the information with any and all women in your life and encourage them to sign up using the email address, womenatthegame@gmail.com when more information about meeting place and timings can be emailed back. See the website at
www.womenatthegame.wordpress.com, Twitter @womenatthegame and Facebook: /Women at the Game
We intend to invite fans of all local sports clubs along, including Manchester Storm, Sale Sharks, Warrington Wolves, Timperley Cricket, Lacrosse, Hockey, Swimming and any other sport, if you have contacts at any local sports club, please let us know. We hope to advertise the event in local businesses, shops, leisure centre, Tourist Information Centre, slimming clubs, hairdressers, barbers but any other ideas would be most welcome (we hope that a poster will be downloadable for you to print off and display at your workplace and to email to all of your friends and family). We want to include all members of the community whatever age, background, ability, ethnicity, gender and religious belief and we are looking to arrange a prayer room at the stadium on the day.
I am on the Radio tomorrow! You can listen online if you are not in the BBC Radio Manchester area;
