One last push!
« on: April 23, 2008, 09:43:06 AM »

Mathematically speaking, we have an 11% chance of staying up, a 67% chance of finishing in the AGM Cup qualifying position and a 22% chance of finishing third bottom.  This is based on the 27 possible result combinations for the last Saturday of the season for Weymouth, Farsley and ourselves.

Goal difference is no longer a factor and Farsley are down.  We win and Halifax lose is the only way we stay up.  Farsley win and we don't win is the only way we can finish third bottom.

There will be plenty of time to give our opinions on how we got into this state after Saturday.  Remember,. only a few weeks ago we were doubting we'd get to the last day without already having been relegated.  So, lets suspend our anger, frustration and depression and with every ounce of our will beleive that we can stay up.

I am hoping that Weymouth have nothing to play for and see the match as a 'relief' after the battle, whereas I am hoping Halifax actually think they are safe and are over confident after a big win. It would not surprise me if Stevenage sack their manager tomorrow and their players are playing for their cushy contracts next season.

The whole thing about Stevenage players playing for a contract next season is not as daft as it sounds, but all the same we shouldn't raise our hopes unrealistically. The 'best' bet for want of a better word is that Halifax go tits up, which is too awful to even contemplate. What the lads have got to do is play for pride given that they will be representing Alty in front of a live tv audience. The first post on this thread by Management Guru was simply brilliant by the way.

Surely, the Stevenage players will want to go out on a high and win for pride. Also, contracts for next season ,where appropriate could be at stake. Then all we have to do is beat Weymouth on the telly ;) ;)

Two reasons why will not go down, Little and Morrison. Both will score a hat-trick on Saturday and save us.

Get to Weymuff and get behind the team (think how you'll feel when we survive and your sat at home) and scream them on.

By the way, anyone who choses to watch this on Satanta over actually making the effort of going should never go again.

This is not over and the team needs every man, women, child (and the right result at Halifax) at this game.

GET TO WEYMOUTH AND MAKE YOURSELF HEARD

AS opposed to NOT BEING ABLE TO GO I presume. Some of us would love to be there but simply cannot go: time (lack of), work committments, money (lack of)etc. Watching Setanta is 2nd best, but the best some of us can hope for.

The word 'choses'  I felt explain my sentiments, but to clarify if you can't go, don't, if could go but chose not to, don't bother in future.

But does that include any chance of player fatigue, pointlessness in playing, form ect? ;D

By the sounds of their alledged director's antics at Burton that doesn't sound too unrealistic
