This club is in desperate need for a cup run and has been for many years, its vital to improve publicity and of cause financially it could be the key to us staying up. The players should sit down and watch the Giant Killers DVd before the first game and have Altys traditions with the FA cup drilled into them.

WEBLEY WEMBELY WERE THE FAMOUS ALTY FC AND WRE GOING TO WEMBELEY!

My missus grew up in Dinnington S Yorks, I doubt anyone else on here has been there? It used to be a pit village before Thatcher closed them all down, thus killing communities in the process. Its a strange place now, a mixture of new "executive" homes and the remains of the old village but unemployment is high. The old mine is cleared you'd never know it ever existed.

I wouldn't fancy getting them away though, I think that could turn out a bit rough, Frickley in  83-84 anyone?

SW,
Sounds just like Thurnscoe which is just up the road, where my Grandparents lived.   Shell of a place these days.   The old Hickleton Main team had a half decent ground with better crowds than Droylesden back in the day!!

Nope, it's the 27th. When we get to play a half-decent conference team away.

The draw for the next round gives the following... I can see a few who I would prefer from this list.

I am not too sure which are going to be in the northern section, but those later in the draw don't look very likely!

Harrogate Railway  v Matlock Town
Harrogate Town /Nantwich Town  v Clitheroe
Barrow  v Fleetwood Town
West Auckland Town  v Bamber Bridge
Dinnington Town  v Bradford (Park Avenue)
Belper Town  v Southport
Gainsborough Trinity  v Blyth Spartans AFC
Stalybridge Celtic  v Workington
Kendal Town  v Woodley Sports
Prescot Cables /Guiseley AFC  v Vauxhall Motors

Tamworth  v Kings Lynn
Boston United  v Hinckley United

Glapwell /Market Drayton Town  v Corby Town
Kettering Town  v Solihull Moors
Bromsgrove Rovers /Nuneaton Borough  v Stamford AFC
Droylsden
Halifax
Northwich
Stafford Rangers
York
Burton Albion

I think the majority of BSN teams in there will be happy with that, many home draws and not many all BSN ties.

Kettering, Harrogate, Boston and Tamworth and maybe Stalybridge should be happy.

A tricky tie for Barrow if they don't sort it out first time round at home to Fleetwood and a potential banan skin for Southport although they do have steady away form thus far.

Kings Lynn were fairly decent last year, Tamworth may struggle.  Southern Premier with Bath City and were generally viewed as the best of the rest by Bath fans and Bath are now doing nicely in Conf South - roll on the home game next year!

Looks like Harrogate police will have a day of it with both those big teams home on the same day!

I have a terrible premonition we'll get Boston Bigots away! :-\

Out of that lot there has to be a team which gets quite far in the cup, Tamuff had a good run last year, an Nuneaton Borough got to the 3rd round a few seasons back. Lets hope we have an easy draw sumone like Belper town at home.

What is the finacial benifit we would get if we made it through to the 1st round?

I'm guessing its just this season that they ahve brought in a regional fourth round (seeing as we played Rushden at the same stage last year) does anybody know why this has been introduced?

Not to sure but many be its so that they can give everyone a chance.
Say for instance you a team from The North an your quite a small club well your going to be screwed if you end up with Some southen team in the BSP. or it might be esier for travel arragments an that bit of an effort if you from the North East an you are amde to travel to the outskirts of Devon

THe north/south split is alway roughly from "the avon to the wash" so if you draw a diagonal line up from approx gloucester up to kings lynn, you have the traditional border for the split in cup draws, Some clubs on the border like rushden, kiddy, hereford etc hop between in the two in various years depending on numbers and the geography of the other teams still in the competitoin.

I'd be happy with any of these at home. Although a fair few would pose tricky away ties. Its got to be Rainworth Miners Welfare at home though. The thing is, they'll probably giant kill us. Its the FA cup and we're due a run so lets hope for Vics away to set the ball rolling!!!!!

NO we dont want vics in the 4QR we need someone who we will definatly beat an get the cash from for making it through to the Fist Round. we want Vics in the actually FA Cup rounds, the atmosphere would be far better, and satisfaction of gaining 10K for beating them would be even better!

Hale Alty is correct about that Information The 3rdQR begins on Friday 12th October with Heybridge Swifts  v Billericay Town  Then over Saturday and Sunday the rest of the games are played, ending with Team Bath  v Weston Super Mare. Any replays will be played on the following wednesday, a week prior to the 4THQR

Yes, so the 3rd qualifying round games will be played the weekend when we play Salisbury away. I'd love an away draw at Bamber Bridge (memories  :'(  ), Kings Lynn away (i cant reall ever see us going there any other time and a great new ground for me) or Matlock away (nice long trip to i weird little ground.

I will be happy with any team as long as they are not from the conference. King Lynn where quite supprising last year, i think they got to the Second round, as i remember one of their matches being shown on BBC.  So they might prove to be one of the giant killers from the North Section.
My memory isnt that great (age you see) but have we ever had one of our games in the cup shown on TV, i am aware that we apperared on MOTD about 10 years ago now, when we got to the 1st round, but that only showed about 5 minute highlights.

Huddersfield Town at Moss Lane in November 1990 was broadcast live on a Sunday afternoon by BSB.

P.S. Why is anyone keen to visit Matlock Town?
Been there, done that in the 1970s.
It usually rained.....and we usually lost.

If only the cup was for the whole of these Islands and we drew Wexford Youths away. It would be a fantastic draw (for me anyway) as it is right on my doorstep and it's a game we should win.......well I can dream anyway.

Oh yes, spuds, strawberries, rebellion and the slobs.....we have it all here....actually not so many of the strawberries after the washout that masqueraded as summer this year.
