I blame the ref for last night....

.....with 20 minutes left he should have called both captains together and said that if you're not going to actually do anything in the match or create a chance we need to knock it on the head.

If they would have agreed we could have all got back in the car and set off a bit earlier armed with cheap pies.

Poor pitch, poor Alty performance and awful Gateshead side.  They had one or two good individuals, the big ginger centre half and the winger at 26 but aprt from that they were shocking.

For those that couldn't make it, I'm not sure how John Laidlar will make a match report out of it.  Here is the highlights

20 mins - we did a good block tackle

25 mins - we did another block tackle

35 mins - our song of "he's fat, he's round, he's on two thousand pound" to Daryl Clare made him roar with laughter and give us a big wave

40 mins - we did another good sliding tackle

Second Half

55 mins - we had a shot that deflected of someone and hit the post

70 mins - they score 25 yd screamer

90 mins - we do more attacking in 30 seconds than in the whole rest of the match

Enjoyed some good banter with the lads and Joe's mini eggs on the way home.

Fair play for going Ecky.........

Does it help knowing that the visiting team on Saturday have shipped in 70 league goals and haven't won away all season?

Our support was great..it deserved a bit more.

Joking aside, maybe the long trips to Crawley, Eastbourne last night and then a heay pitch took it out of them a bit.

I reckon we'll beat Grays and if we get an early goal they will be all over the place.

They're just the type of team we don't beat!*

I very much doubt the Alty players will be complacent on Saturday.  Graham and Kenny will see to that.

Our home form is improving, so lets get at them early doors heh ;)

Grays are a South Liverpool or a Netherfield - capable of losing 8-0 at home to Mossley and then coming to Moss Lane and getting a 0-0.

And isn't it typical that when we get our home form sorted, our away form declines.

Alty to a T.

Thanks for that statistical tip ...

I'll put Alty down as a home win in my 5 match accumulator at the weekend

Fancy some more  ;D

In their last 6 league matches Grays have scored just the once but conceded 20! And funny enough lost them all.....

Seriously thou it’s sad to see our old friends down there struggling.  I wish them all the best after Saturday but its going to be very hard for them to stay up.

I was one of the 232 at Grays 0 Salisbury 2 the other week, and Grays were not as bad as the scoreline suggests. They have a number of decent looking players, including a number 9 who could be handful, and just looked like a team who just need a bit of luck to get going. They have lost 8 games in a row so have to win eventually. Lets hope its not against us!!!

They..... just looked like a team who just need a bit of luck to get going.

To lose 8 games on the bounce suggests that it's more than just luck going against them.

However, we should guard against complacency.
