Title: Run out music for the team
Post by: Darren on July 30, 2008, 04:58:20 PM
Rafo seems to have lost fanfare to the common man is it time for a change any way? How many years has the team run out to fanfare?
Who decides who changes it
1. The manager
2. George
3. Or us the fans

If you could change it what would you like and why?

I like this because of the words
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jbkysd9mQho
Or this after recent years
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jbkysd9mQho

Let the peaking begin

I like fanfare, it's classic sounding and sits perfectly with the history and proud past of the club.

Can anyone tell me what the tune is that Rafo plays at the end of a game as the players make their way back in.........been meaning to ask for ages and this post now gives me a convenient vehicle to ask such a boring question

speaking as a trditionalist it has to be fanfare and it should be played just before they come out
thats the way it should be that is the end of the matter.

Whatever else happens, on no account whatsoever must George Heslop be allowed to select the music that Alty run out to.

My concrete evidence for this is simply as follows: when I telephoned Mister Heslop once, he was clearly playing a James Blunt CD in the background....

No good reason to change, and ELP's 'fanfare' just works on so many levels. It has to stay!

I've had a few tonight, so will suggest some alternatives anyway...

Joy Division - Interzone  8)
Iggy Pop - Lust For Life  8)
Rage Against The Machine - Renegades of Funk  8)
The Mission Impossible Theme  8)

Probably regret it if any of these get the nod, but seems like good ideas at this moment in time  ;)

Nah, when I first watched alty in 92 they had this beauty:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf0z38rGnHQ

You may have to fast forward to just before 3mins for the actual bit we used  ;)

I think the manager has pick because it changed when Kingy came in (can't remember what he chose), then Fanfare came in late 90's. I may be wrong though. How long as Graham Heathcote been in charge now?

So it's suggested fanfare is dropped.....another kick in the teeth for the fans....how mich more can we take?

It has to stay......the troops must be assembled.....Gary to paint a bed sheet with "Don't sell our traditions down the river...shame on you"......some of our more militant fans to start a petition and propose a boycott of home matches......when the alternative music is played we should all run onto the centre circle, turn our back on Rafo and the director's box and put earplugs in.

I'd go further.....Rafo has been removing the fanfare by stealth by removing a few bars each time so now we only get "DA_DA_DAAAA" before he butts in with useless info like no smoking and who's in todays line ups and enjoy the match!!!.

The whole fanfare should be played before the opposition are even allowed onto the pitch.

Ah yes i remember Eckys explanation last time I asked about the wind up gramophone that takes half an hour to cue and then shorts with the microphone if you try and do anything too fancy...... like talk and play music simultaneously.

I remember just thinking....we're a really mickey Mouse outfit aren't we?

For CSC matches how about ghost town? or all by myself? I do think we can spice up the CSC competition with ab it of fun like this.

After having some time to reflect on the comments on this thread, here is my response:

Just for the record, i have not LOST the cd, it has been STOLEN (borrowed, removed, lent out, whatever you want to dress it up as or call it)

It was left in the usual place it always was and was taken along with several other items that personally belonged to me.

I can't recall who did the original copy (Possibly gaz???), but i do have it on several cd's including in live format.

HOWEVER, i cant seem to find THE Version that we have played at the match for so long for love nor money. I have recently bought three elp albums trying to find the correct version, without success.

Sadly, this disc also had the music that is played at the end of the game on. Anyone know the title or artist???

Gaz, can you e-mail me about it???

Crewe alty, pm me to discuss what you have put on here about the possibility of using some of your spare gear???  Maybe we could meet up one match day??? thanks

Also for the record there was NEVER any suggestion by me that the "run out music" should be changed.

nevertheless thank you for you comments in regards to this subject. i shall now take some time to consider my postion at the club.

Can nothing be left lying around these days??????

FFS, who stole the CD's, what a nightmare. All the hard work done in the close season by GH/GB/GG is going to come unstuck because of petty theft.

This has to be sorted. I love that music at the end of the game, whenever I used to play golf at alty i'd get near the ground and start whistling, im sure it raised my terribly low game.

Some things must not change, fanfare is one, hating Macc is another!

The music played at the end of the game wwas the music played at the end of ITVs coverage of the 1998 World Cup final. I have this on video at home (I'm in Wales at the moment). WHen I get home I'll check the credits and find out exactly who it was and who it was by.

Edit: I think this is it

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=juHZcLzX9Fc

I knew being this weird would come in handy one day.  :)

Also, tell the BSP to sling it with their gay insistence that both teams come out together. We're not the sodding premiership or a cup final. It's the conference.

The away team can sheepishly come out before Phil Taylor stands at the end of the tunnel to give the thumbs up to signify the start of fanfare so that the mighty robins runout to it all on their own. DA DA DAAAR DA DA DAAARR

It's definitely not the tune linked above...it's similar but not quite the same.
The tune played at the end of games evokes loads of memories; when I think about the end of match tune, the flood light are on, it's a bit misty/rainy and I'm thinking "get in there Alty' - Stu is sliding down on his knees and I'm in the bar by the second part of the tune ordering a pint of smooth from Jenny - obviously that didn't happen too often last season!

Fanfare for the Common Man was introduced at the beginning of the 1977-78 season and thus coincides with the Glory Days quite neatly.

At the beginning of the 70's the run out tune was the Match of the Day theme - I remember being late for the Blackburn FA Cup replay, running down Acacia Avenue and hearing the MOTD theme rising into the crisp winter air!

The music played at the end of the game wwas the music played at the end of ITVs coverage of the 1998 World Cup final. I have this on video at home (I'm in Wales at the moment). WHen I get home I'll check the credits and find out exactly who it was and who it was by.

Edit: I think this is it

I knew being this weird would come in handy one day.  :)

Also, tell the BSP to sling it with their gay insistence that both teams come out together. We're not the sodding premiership or a cup final. It's the conference.

The away team can sheepishly come out before Phil Taylor stands at the end of the tunnel to give the thumbs up to signify the start of fanfare so that the mighty robins runout to it all on their own. DA DA DAAAR DA DA DAAARR

Is it just me or does the DA DA DAAAR DA DA DAAARR make the hairs stand up on the back on anyone else's kneck ??

or even toes ??

Although it would be nice to know where the original CD has gone, Rafo now has a 7 inch vinyl copy of the original ELP version of Fanfare, which he was given, with much cheering and applause last night.
