Altrincham FC First Team / Re: PP interview

Moult as captain was a very bad decision. He is like many captains in the sport arena; they are live and sole of the party, until they wear the captain’s hat. Performance drops confidence goes and they are spent. Captains are bred not made on a field of play.

It takes a very special person to wear that arm band. Dens is a classic example , not sure that he is up to it now though. So PP back to the drawing board.

I expected Harrison to get the job - he was PP's skipper at Nantwich after all.

Unless I'm missing something this appears to have gone wrong. Josh Amis has earned me two points despite not playing?
He deserves 2 points for missing that fiasco. How many would Deasy have had to ship to earn a minus score ?

Don't make me actually watch the bloody video. According to the league website the scorer was Gavin Rothery.

League site has highlights of Sutton Coldfield v Shaw Lane. Attendance 187. And no, Reevesy didn't score.

But James Walshaw notched two for Farsley....and Warrington's late winner was scored by Joe Mwasile.

Anyone still got doubts about the depth of the sh*t we're in ?

PP thinks we dominated for an hour. He must be working at 15 seconds to the minute.

If we're to get anywhere near the play offs this season a 20+ goal striker is a must! Josh Amis may well be that man but Jordan Hulme certainly isn't! I've seen a couple of pre season games plus today and Hulme is a luxury player we can't afford to carry who will sh*t out of a 50/50 challenge but can try a back heel or a fancy flick every now and then,we may as well have kept James Lawrie!
we seem to have a team of James Lawries, no back bone. Stafford were sh*t but physically strong - they beat us easily

Genuine question: Are you going the match again now?
I'll choose which games I attend thank you very much

If you're counting them, you'll have enough fingers.

According to Phil Parkinson he didn't have a save to make all game. Yes he did, three of them, and didn't make any of them.
Are we to assume that PP rates saves in a similar way to Dean Saunders rating crosses ?

He has a way that he expects his team to play. Please promise me yesterday wasn't it  >:(

Signing a player on the eve of a game who trained the week before sounds awfully familiar
All the same old errors are emerging again. We'll be signing another non-English speaker next.

Just be grateful it wasn't Andrew Dawber out there today.

I await a response from the club on why they refused to phone the police, or why the chairman didn't want to personally phone the police to avoid any costs.
You'll still be waiting at Christmas. Another disgraceful episode and it's only the first game.

I was bemused when he was let go. It's slightly concerning that Parky didn't think he was good enough but Harrop is?!?
Again, I hope I am proven wrong but Harrop looks absolutely terrible. Maybe a bit harsh after 15 mins of play. We'll have to wait and see because I remember Nicky Clee being terrible at the beginning. Just a gut feeling.

He's no Nicky Clee. But then if you sign a player who's not found a club on the eve of the new season, you can hardly expect quality.

Deasy has let us down for 3 seasons, why is he still here?

He got player of the season 2 seasons ago so how do you work that out? I wouldn't fault him for any goal today. Yes he got chipped for the second but anyone that's played in goal will tell you that you that his positioning was correct and it was a fantastic finish. The other two were down to poor defending.

Whilst others at the back were at fault, he was too slow to get down for the first, and he should have come for the corner on the third. YOU would have saved the second and caught it cleanly (or so you usually tell me !).

I thought we were good for about 15 minutes, even at a goal down, but after that it was dire.

Is Hulme unfit, or just lazy ?

Moult had a nightmare. Sheridan was off the pace.

If Thompson really is no better than Deasy we are in big trouble.

JJ never gave up (perhaps he got MOM out of sympathy) but their left back had him in his pocket.

PP obviously studied at the Sinnout Academy of Substitutions. Don't understand why Richman was pulled.

Alty 4/6
Draw 11/4
Stafford 3/1

An Altrincham manager has not won his first competitive game in charge since 2002 when graham Heathcote took over from Bernard Taylor. That run includes

Ken McKenna
Lee Sinnott
Neil Tolson
Neil Young
The 3 lads as caretakers
Jim Harvey
Matt Doughty

No reason why that run shouldnt be ended tomorrow.

Ten integros equal one carabao ?

Just a little puzzled while watching Channel 5's highlights to see an advert at Accrington for Go Goodwin's coaches.

Also sponsor bury

What about Accrington? I presume Geoff is advertising his business as far and wide as possible, nothing wrong with that.
It won't be Geoff since he's retiring at the end of this month. His son Wes will be running the coach side of things. The buses are being taken over by Rotala (owners of Preston Bus).
