You overlook the fact that any season ticket holders who didn't actually attend the match will still have been counted in the attendance figure.

Frankly, I expected a lower turnout.

That doesn't make sense, I thought that the figure quoted is by what went through the turnstiles ? How can you count 12 people there that were not because they have a season ticket ?
Hence what comes through the turnstile is the attendance surely ?

Season Tickets count whether the owners turn up or not. That is standard procedure at all levels of Football.Remember Manchester United's Carling Cup defeat to Coventry when the official attendance was literally thousands above the real number of people attending, due to the fact that loads of United fans purchased tickets (because they had to) but didn't turn up (because they didn't want to).

What is the point in advertising the 'attendance' when infact its probably flawed then, it just doesn't make sense to me. I agree your right but it doesn't make sense. It must be annoying in the office having to work out numbers of adults, children and season tickets and then - season ticket holders that didn't come, rather than 1,050 came through the turnstiles of which 300 were season tickets 700 were paying adults and 50 paying kids.

No, not at all. The tax is simply worked out off gate receipts, not the attendence.

The point being that the tax man wants to know how many people have paid to attend the game. Season ticket holders already have (about£7 for each game) whether they turn up or not, ergo they count as attendees.

The tax man himself isn't arsed about how sh*t FGR's away following is.

Although the tax man does think its poor for a playoff chasing team I heard.  In fact he wanted a recount of the away end.  He also demanded to know why no-one looked remotely happy on the FGR stag do and wondered if problems lay ahead for the marriage.

I doubt that the taxman cares at all about attendances*, just receipts, and there's no obvious connection between the 2 (think about the different prices paid by adults/seniors/kids, plus any special offers and concessions)

(* - unless he's an Aldershot fan of course.....)

Is there any legal/regulatory requirement for attendances to be declared accurately anyway?

If the taxman had been there on Saturday he would have joined in a hearty chorus of "you're marrying your sister" too.
