Agree with that. The Chequers end plus a small number of seats gives them just over 1000 tickets-plus it’ll be on TV so could be a silly KO time so they’ll be fine with that. Recall seeing them play City at the Etihad on the opening day about 15 years ago and they only brought about 800, don’t think they have a historically large away support.

More of a concern (IF we get through a hard replay) is number of tickets for home support. We had 3700 in on a Tuesday night for Solihull and the home parts of the ground felt very full. Demand sure to be high. Still that’s a nice headache to put off until after next Tuesday.

When are you going to change your forum name btw?

A week Tuesday I believe. I think it’s only until the 4th Qualifying Round that the replays are immediately the following midweek. Once you are in the competition proper it’s always been the midweek after. I think a lot of this is down to it being comprised of larger clubs once you are in the 1st round, so more planning and policing considerations etc mean a longer gap is needed.

And there will be some televised replays to arrange.

I don’t know whether Pringle will miss Saturday or the next league game - nobody seemed sure on that point post-match at the weekend.

Assuming Kosylo, Mullarky, Hampson, Whitehead, Dinanga and Colclough were the Covids. Hoping any of Furman, Thommo, Jackson or Mooney return.

Have I missed anybody? White, Digie and Kirby definitely out.

Might be useful to arrange a practice match on Tuesday if so many players are expected to return.

You missed Leitch-Smith who is on the injured list.

TT was at Woking and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start on Saturday.

That would make obvious that the money was behind the first decision so they won’t do that. I wonder if the fact that our COVID related absences were not as a result of direct infection ie positive tests for players but rather because the players are not vaccinated and so have to isolate, something the league perhaps see as avoidable and therefore on us to deal with?

Great minds, Bath Alty...

I assume the difference with the NLN postponements is that they had a player test positive for Covid, whereas our case was on the club staff. I'm sure the fact we were on telly made the NL take a harder line with us than they might otherwise have done but if I'm honest I can see their point of view. The players we were missing on Tuesday were either injured (nine, I make it - a lot but not enough for a postponement) or had effectively made themselves unavailable by not getting double-jabbed. That's hardly the NL's fault.

My understanding is that because Tuesday went ahead, Saturday will go ahead too.

                         TT

White.       Toby.     Digie.       Hampson

             Whitehead.    Kirby

Mooney.             Kosylo.               Colclough

                     Diananga

And room for AJ on the bench.

That is one hell of an injury list!

You forgot Brad Jackson, the lucky 13th…

One other possibility this opens up is us playing 4-3-3. We used that system towards the end of last season with Moult, Smith and Kirby as the midfield three and I was expecting to see it on occasion this season when we re-signed Kirby. I don’t think Moult, Furman and Pringle would have the legs to play that way but the new lad sounds like a Kirby-type player, so it could be an option now. It would be interesting to see Pringle playing a bit further forward.

Bit of shuffling is definitely required for the two injuries, we could see Gould and Sutton back, with the potential for Digie getting involved for the first time

Have they played in the cup already for their loan club? If so they can't play at Southport.
(just asking, don't know)

No, Nantwich were out of the cup before Gould arrived and Sutton didn't play in Alfeton's defeat at Cleethorpes (which I imagine was part of the loan agreement). Sutton's one-month loan period has expired so I assume he's back with us already. Gould's loan deal included an emergency recall clause, which you'd think we'll be exercising.

Jackson has completed his suspension so should be available.

Was hoping he hadn't.

You do seem to be holding it against him here...

This was at a point where we had no other choice for full back. I stand by it, he had a mare at Wealdstone, and looked shaky, against Torquay when he we brought on.

Densmore had a class game 2 days earlier at FB.

If you bother to read or listen to my other opinions, I've also said Mooney has to start as has been correct, that Peers is an excellent Sub (as shown so far).

You read the name and decide its going to be wrong opinion.

I just don't understand why you're knocking Jackson for his performances as an emergency full-back. You might as well slag off Nicky Clee for not being great in goal (an exaggeration but not much of one). And for what it's worth, I agree that he looked shaky to begin with at Torquay but then I thought he did much better in the second half and overall coped quite well for a guy playing out of position who hadn't had a game for three weeks. Generally I think he's been ok at right back, given the circumstances. I'm sure Dens would always be picked ahead of him if he were fully fit - I assume he didn't play against Grimsby because he'd played many more minutes than anticipated against D&R and it was considered too big a risk to play him again a few days later. Seems like sensible, long-term thinking to me.

I always rated Jackson at Chester and on Saturday he gave us a glimpse of what a great alternative to Mooney he could be on the right wing. That is the big story here, not his understandable struggles playing in a position where you, I, he and everyone hopes he doesn't have to play again.

And I'm disagreeing with you because I disagree with the opinions you're expressing. The fact it's you and not any other forum contributor is irrelevant.

Extremely odd to make an overall judgement on Brad Jackson based on his appearances as an emergency full back (where I personally think he’s done ok). He’s played all of ten minutes for us in his natural position and was absolutely superb.

Is it odd to say I don't want a winger playing full back?

I said he looked like the player we'd signed on Saturday (in his natural position) but he shouldn't be playing full back.

Just like playing Tom Peers at RW, Mallarky in CM or Kosylo in 10 is detrimental to their individual performances.

Nobody wants him playing there, I’d imagine - not him, not Phil, nobody. But with all the injury problems at fullback, needs must and Phil judged him to be the best available option. I think it is odd to object to it in those circumstances and odder still to hold it against Jackson in general as you seem to have done.
