The only surprise is that their sorry saga dragged on for so long. Serial overspenders (see also Macclesfield Town).

salisbiury's statement seems to blame everyone but themselves for being in this position.....they had football debts to pay and clearly failed to perform due diligence on the new owner.

They may have been conned but it is the football debts that the conference are upset about.......had they been debt free no problem and probably no need to desperately pull in a foreign investor.....

still feel sorry for the fans and there is a question to be answered about what the FA/conference/government can do when a football club is taken over under clear false pretences and immediately goes under.....

I feel sorry for their fans, but not the club itself or the idiots who have been "running" it. The fact that they failed to learn their lesson from the first time this happened is unforgiveable.

What's even more stunning is that every time they reach a deadline - including the latest one - they say they have the money to pay. This time another 'local consortium'. Where were these people when the season was drawing to a close and the bills needed paying (including the wages of the players and manager)? Serial brinksmanship has ended in the only way it was ever going to. The fans I feel sorry for are those of the other 21 teams on Conference South who have got one less home game to watch this coming year.
