Sky question?
« on: February 11, 2007, 03:19:14 PM »

I'm just doing a quick survey of what teams haven't been on Sky in, say, the last five years.

As you may know Oxford are being shown again twice in a week (Halifax v Oxford and Oxford v Daggers) and Burton are also on again against FGR in the previous week.

Us Harriers fans can't understand the thinking of Sky when they don't even consider a team that goes twelve games unbeaten as being worthy of being shown.

So the question is when was the last time Alty were on Sky?

Thanks Timp. We are playing all three of those sides during March and that's why we cant understand the situation.

I'm not denying FGR their first time on Sky but couldn't they have gone for Burton v FGR, Oxford v Daggers and Halifax v Harriers instead?

Tamuff have been on TV 3 times...unfortunately we lost 3 times...look forward to next year though, there will be something like 80 games on TV with each team getting at least 2 appearances on TV, all the more reason to survive the drop.

What's the money worth for Sky showing a conference game?  I'd personally prefer to go to the match (football should be played at 3pm Saturday), but I recognise the value and indeed lifeline, that the money can offer.

£5000 for the home side and £2000 for the away side.

However unless you are based in the South East, an ex-league side or have a famous manager there's no point in really thinking about it.

It was Sportscast that showed the Barnet game, a satellite company that just supplied football to pubs.  Sadly went bust the year after but left us with the best video ever in my opinion.

The Huddersfield FA Cup game in 1990 was on BSB (which ended up in Sky's hands), with Andy Gray no less as the pundit.

They went bust due to supplying snazzy blue blazers to all their staff!
